Relieved to be on the right track
I have nearly finished Part B for Assignment 1! I am feeling so proud and so great I have tackled another assignment so early in the semester. I have completed all the writing and I think visually the social learning page just needs a few tweaks here and there. I look back now and laugh at myself due to the fact I was looking far to much into this assignment. Last week during the tutorial, Jenni came around to each of us to enquiry and discuss which 'social networking' site we were thinking of using. After speaking to one of my peers, I thought I was heading on the right track by setting up a new website on 'Schoolrack.com'. On Schoolrack, you can create a free teacher website or educational blog for parents, students and colleagues in or outside of the classroom. When I stumbled across it I thought it would be perfect. I had all these really big ideas like I was going to upload media technologies on grammar that were given to me by a teacher and add all these other fantastic teaching resources. Once I explained my idea and concept to Jenni, she said “Wow that is too much! What you are trying to tackle is more like the sounds of Assignment 3 which is a group project." She also said instead of this assignment being 'educational' based or around the 'education' topic, to try focus more on something a little more personal and what I am interested in outside of my training profession. After this tutorial and discussion, I had to go away and have another brainstorm. I logged onto the LMS for Living and Learning with Technology and clicked on the link for the companion website. I read, viewed and searched all the other social networking sites and I still didn't have a clue. I had a quick look on Diigo, registered and then started to set up a group called 'Our Kids WA'. I was going to research and add information about places to take children within the metro and surrounding areas. I began to think this could be a big project also so I was back to the drawing board. Then I had a look at YouTube. I use YouTube all the time to listen to music and search for 'how to do' videos for my everyday life but I have never set up a channel of my own. I really enjoyed the whole process and feel extremely confident doing so but one thing I have learnt and discovered in this unit there is always so much more to learn and improve on!
